The main problem with loving someone is how much it hurts when s/he hurts you. Whether it's deliberate or not is irrelevant. You've opened up yourself to this person and his/her opinion matters to you. It would be convenient if you could close yourself off to the hurt, but then you'd close yourself off from love. And that, my dears, would bite.
